Start of the wind down.

Since last journaling - it's been a busy time once again for this redhead.

As mentioned, we did camp at Sandhills with friends. 10 or so of us in total, and a good chilled out time was had by all. Betty (cam) had a break also.
I came back from the weekend with a cold, so had some time off work... ;) and then even though I was still poorly we took off for our last week of camping.
Spent two nights up near Bon Echo Provincial Park in Ontario, and then 7 nights at Buttermilk Falls State Park in Ithaca, New York. Unfortunately, the battery in Betty ran out before the end of the week - but I still managed to photograph Bon Echo, Taughannock Falls State Park and Robert H Treman State Park. Scott's trusty point and shoot did the job at Filmore Glen State Park and Letchworth State Park.
All of these parks are "known" for their waterfalls and gorges, so we did a lot of trekking - even in a thunderstorm. :D It was in keeping with a semi tradition of ours. Being stuck at the wrong end of a gorge as a thunderstorm rolled in. Happened to us at Watkin's Glen State Park last summer. We also went to our first winery and tasted some mead! Very nice! We also had our wedding anniversary (5 years), and went to the Virgin Festival in Toronto at the weekend. We weren't *supposed* to take dSLRs (I didn't want to risk having Betty confiscated), so we tried to make do with our point and shoot - only to find that some people had snuck their dSLRs in. BOOOO!!!!
This weekend we have "off", and then the following weekend a friend is arriving from Scotland and we're throwing a Tiki style BBQ in her honour. Then Scott's family arrives and we're into October and have NO PLANS!!! :D :D

Again though, I have a heap of photos and haven't had time to get through them. Soon, I hope. Soon. :D

It's been an awesome summer, and has done nothing but serve to remind me WHY we came to this country 2 years ago. Quality of life.
We've made some fantastic friends who have become like family to us; and we're having some awesome adventures. Aside from the "big" plans - we're also still active socially (something we didn't have the opportunity to do back in the UK) - I also still go to the Girls' Night Out on a Monday at a local watering hole - which earned its 5 minutes of fame when a reporter came along one night and wrote an article on us.

It's a good life.

  • Mood: Peaceful
  • Listening to: Office chatter and clattering keys
  • Drinking: Tim Hortons. :D

Can't be doing with quiet myself - gets too borin'!
Although, there is something to be said for kicking back with a mellow glass of red, and listening to the blues.
Hope your time to sort out pics comes soon hon - can't wait to see the wonderful stuff you shot!
:D
